Below you can see the complete TAP Fleet from 1945 to 2008.

|
The First TAP Aircraft were DC-3's and C-47's that were largely available after WWII. TAP had a total of 8 DC-3's in the fleet and operated them until the fifties/early sixties. Today, a DC-3 in TAP colors is in front of the TAP Building at Portela Airport in Lisbon, it is not an original TAP aircraft though, it was in fact CS-DGA and now wears the registration CS-TDA. It was painted in two different color Schemes, as can be seen below.

In 1947 TAP also got The DC-3's larger brother, the DC-4 into its fleet. A total of four aircraft flew in TAP colors. They all were former Military aircraft (c-54's) that were converted to the civilian DC-4 Version.

In December of 1953 Tap got the Lockheed Constellation L1049 into their fleet, buying three units at first. A further one (TLD) was leased from '58-'59 and in May 1961 two further aircraft (TLD/F) were purchased. Some of the ex-TAP Aircraft are still around the world today as Bars, Gas Stations and lying around at Airports. Some of the TAP aircraft also were used by the Biafra Government during its short existence. Also, CS-TLF was the first portuguese Airliner to be hijacked, but everything turned out fine, as all the hijackers wanted was to drop anti-fascist pamphlets out of the aircraft.

TAP operated a total of 12 Boeing 707-382B from 1965 until 1988, TBC until 1990. 2 of them were Cargo-Planes (TBI and TBJ) and two further aircraft came later from the portuguese Government (TBT & TBU; former CS-DGI and DGJ). CS-TBF became US Air Force Two, and CS-TBD became the Presidential Aircraft of Zaire, and was stored in Lisbon for a loooong time until being scrapped in late 2007.
TAP operated the Versions 707-382C, -399C, 373C and -3F5C, depending on the initial operators of the aircraft.

The first Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet entered TAP Service in 1972. Two units were delivered in 1972 (TJA/B) and one further unit in 1974 (TJC) and 1975 (TJD) each. The aircraft were mainly used for routes to the portuguese colonies, but since most of these were gone after the portuguese revolution in 1974, such large aircraft were no longer viable on most routes. TAP got rid of TJC and TJD shortly after in 1976, when they went to Pakistan International Airways. The two initial units stayed in the fleet until 1984 and got to wear the new livery. In 1984 the aircraft were finally sold to TWA, and TAP never got any further 747's thereafter. TJD is still flying to this day with Evergreen Airlines.

TAP introduced the Boeing 737-200 Advanced in 1983 operating different Types, namely the B737-282 and one -282C plus second hand -2K9 and -230 from Monarch and Lufthansa/Condor. Tap had a total of 12 Aircraft and operated them until 1999 along with the Boeing 737-300, when both types were replaced by aircraft of the Airbus A320 Family. Some of the Aircraft mainly flew for Air Atlantis, TAP's Charter Airline. Another B737-200 (CS-TIS) also flew for Air Atlantis, but never for TP or in TP colors and is hence not listed here.

The Boeing 737 replaced older Boeing 727's and flew alongside the 737-200 from 1988 till 2001 until being replace by A320 family aircraft, which ultimately led to TAP being an all-Airbus Airline. A total of 13 aircraft were operated by TAP, one of them wearing a special Algarve Livery, another one 'Fly Algarve' Colors. Below are all 13 aircraft that flew for TP, plus one (CS-TII) that never flew for TAP, but belonged to Air Atlantis, TAP's Charter Airline, as did many others, but all except this one flew for TAP lateron. TAP had versions 737-382, -3K9, -3Q8 and -33A in Service.
