Swissair Photo AG was founded as an own company in 1934 as a daughter Company of SR by Swissair Founding Member Walter Mittelholzer.

The company specialised on aerial Photography in Switzerland. At first the regular Swissair Aircraft were used for this purpose until Swissair bought a specific Aircraft for the job -a Fokker 27, HB-FAA - with photographic equipment aboard.

In 1971 a second aircraft, a Beechcraft KingAir HB-GEY joined the small fleet, enabling the company to take images from up to 10'000 meters altitude.
