1998-2002

Airbus launched development of the A330-200 in November 1995. The A330-200 is the newest member of Airbus' widebody twinjet family and is a long range, shortened development of the standard A330.
Swissair's decision for the A330 was a logical step in the process if getting a standardised (Airbus) Fleet, which was to be completed with the Arrival of A340-600's, since it already had an all-Airbus narrowbody fleet...
The A330 replaced the A310's and, together with the MD-11, the Boeing 747's. Swissair took delivery of a total of 16 aircraft. After the collapse of Swissair many of these went on to SWISS and still play in an important role in the fleet.
