The Airbus A319 was the smallest member of the A320 family (now the A318 has
that place). The A319 programme was launched at the Paris Airshow in June 1993.
The A319 flew for the first time on August 25 1995 and service entry, with Swissair,
took place in April 1996. Swissair ordered and operated a total of nine A319's,
along with company A321's and A320's. Swissair was the first airline to fly
all of the (then) three members of the A320 family.
