1965-1972

Design of the aircraft started in the 1950s as a DC-3 replacement. A number of different configurations were considered before the final decision on a high wing twin prop was taken. The Fokker 27 were operated by Balair on behalf of Swissair, and thus flew in Balair colors. They mainly operated domestic Routes within Switzerland, the main route beeing Zurich-Berne. Until 1971 three (AAV, W, X) aircraft were used for this service. After Swissair discontinued this Service, Balair took the planes over, and sold them shortly after.
